Implementing Agencies

Indian Environmental Society (IES)

Indian Environmental Society (IES) has been engaged in environmental development activities with a philosophy of self-help and community participation for a long time.

The Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) has appointed IES as a Nodal Agency for implementing the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) and National Green Corps (NGC) Program in India. IES is also involved with other programmes of MoEF such as Environmental Information System (ENVIS) Center, National Environmental Awareness Campaign (NEAC), and Sustainable Development Network Program (SDNP). Environment Education has been the center-piece of all programs of the Society. Environmental Education programs of IES aim at strengthening, on a long term and enduring basis, both human and institutional capacity in nature conservation and environmental protection.
